FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions about
Green Bag Lunch.

Can anyone order Green Bag Lunch?
Green Bag Lunch can only be delivered to schools, camps and other organizations that have agreed to using our delivery service. If you or your child is not currently affiliated with a participating school or camp, you can still help bring Green Bag Lunch to your location. Contact us at info@greenbaglunch.com to learn how.

How will lunch be delivered?
In bags labeled with your child’s name. They’re kept cool in large, self-serve coolers organized by class.

What time will lunch be delivered?
Lunch typically arrives between 10:00 and 11:30 a.m.. On Field Trip days, lunch will be delivered earlier, so kids can take it with them.

How long do I need to commit to using Green Bag Lunch?
How long you choose to use the service is entirely up to you. There is no commitment required.

How were your lunches designed?
We developed our menu with the help of a child nutritionist. Standard lunches exceed federal standards for nutrition for kids in grades K through 5. For older kids and big eaters, we recommend ordering an extra entrée.

What if my child has allergies?
If your child has allergies, please be aware that our meals are prepared in a commercial kitchen that uses nuts, soy, dairy, eggs & gluten. If you have concerns or questions, please let us know at info@greenbaglunch.com.

What happens if my child is absent one day or I want to change an order?
With notice of 10 days or more, we are happy to change or cancel an order. Unfortunately, orders cannot be changed or canceled the same week that they are being delivered. That’s because we plan and order our own organic and eco-friendly supplies that far in advance.

How do I change or cancel my order once it’s placed?
We can accommodate changes to an order 10 days before the date of the scheduled lunch delivery. If you need to change or cancel, simply send an email to customerservice@greenbaglunch.com with the date you want to change lunch and your new order or cancellation.

What if my child is extremely picky?
We designed this menu with picky eaters in mind. That means kid-friendly shapes, and no strange textures. Not a lot of mixing of foods, either. Most importantly, the food tastes delicious, and picky eaters have said so. In fact, parents of picky eaters have written to tell us that they were pleasantly surprised at how much their kids enjoy our lunches.

Why $5 for a kid’s lunch?
We use the best ingredients possible, because your kid is worth it. If you packed this yourself, you’d probably spend $4. For $1 more, we do it for you and clean up afterwards. Also, our eco-friendly packaging costs a little more than your standard fast food containers, but we consider that an investment in the future.

Is tax added to the cost of lunches?
When individuals and families order lunch directly through Green Bag Lunch, a necessary sales tax of 8.75% is added to the subtotal. When individuals are paying through a participating tax-exempt school or organization, the sales tax is not applied.

What happens if my child doesn’t get his/her lunch?
Our system ensures the right orders get to the right kids on the right days. But we typically pack a couple of extras, just in case of a mix-up. We tend to be a bit more reliable than the kids themselves!

Why does bottled water cost $1?
It takes 26 times the amount of water in the bottle to produce what you drink. We don’t like that, and neither does the environment. So while we offer bottled water, we also encourage your child to bring a jug or reuse the bottle next time.

Can teachers and staff order lunch?
Absolutely, anyone at a participating location can enjoy Green Bag Lunch. It’s convenient, healthy and a great example for your students.

Will our information be shared with anyone else?
We are busy, working parents who don’t appreciate it when our information gets shared. So we wouldn’t do that to you. For complete information on our policy, click the Privacy button below.

Do you provide Kosher lunches?
Unfortunately, not yet. As we grow, we hope to offer lunches that will cater to many dietary restrictions.

How long have you been around?
Green Bag Lunch started serving lunches in Spring 2007, so we’re pretty new. But our specialty bakers and sandwich makers have been around for nearly 20 years.
